Leon Franklin Reece

December 10, 1941 ~ May 18, 2019 (age 77)

Mr. Leon Franklin Reece, age 77, of Dobson, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  He was born in Surry County on December 10, 1941 to the late Curry Washington Reece and Ella Lee Gunnell Reece.  Mr. Reece was self-employed in the construction business.  He proudly served our country in the United States Army.  He is survived by a daughter, Shannon Reece Haynes and David Hatfield; a son, Rodney Reece; grandchildren, Blake Reece, Brooke Reece, Morgan Haynes; sisters and brothers-in-law, Geneva Freeman, Carol and Wade Haynes, and Monk Moncus; a brother, Freddy Reece; a sister-in-law, Christine Reece; several nieces and nephews; a special friend, Betty Gallimore.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Reece was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Moncus; brothers, Curry W. Reece, Jr., and Larry Reece.  A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at 11am at Moody Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens with full military honors conducted by VFW Memorial Honor Guard Post 2019 of Mt. Airy and Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Rd., Dobson, NC 27017, or to Dunmore Plantation, P.O.
