IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Albert Lewis
Stowers
March 22, 1955 – December 4, 2025
Albert Lewis “A.L.” Stowers, 70, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2025, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, North Carolina.
Born on March 22, 1955, in Pulaski, Virginia, AL was the son of the late Albert Walter Stowers and Betty Jo Murphy Stowers.
AL was married to the love of his life, Sandra Stowers, for 49 years, and together they built a life grounded in devotion, humor, and enduring family bonds. He was the proud father of three children: Jeremy Stowers and wife Sondra of Winston-Salem, NC; Jessica Vanzant and husband Zeke of Palmyra, TN; and Jason Stowers and partner Collin of Clarksville, TN. He was also a loving grandfather to Abigail Vanzant, Katelyn Stowers and Chloe Vanzant.
AL had a lifelong passion for music. A talented drummer, he played in bands throughout his life and found joy in sharing music with others. He loved his family deeply and spent countless cherished moments camping, fishing, and making memories—especially during annual trips to Cherokee and family outings to Claytor Lake. He also had a love for motorcycles and enjoyed the thrill and freedom he felt.
In 1987, AL moved his family to Mount Airy, North Carolina, where he worked in the textile industry in the technology department for 25 years. He was a Christian who loved God, his country, and the simple, meaningful moments shared with the people he loved.
AL is survived by his brother Jeff Stowers and sisters Jennifer Stowers and Karen Cole.
Honoring his wishes, there will be no formal memorial service. His wife and children wish to celebrate his life together at a later time— surrounded by family and friends which brought him the greatest joy. A private family viewing will be held on Saturday at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Mountain Valley Hospice House in Dobson, NC.
