Mr. Alda Ray Holyfield, age 90, of Gainesville, Georgia, formerly of Dobson, passed away, Friday, July 31, 2026, at the Bell Minor Home. He was born December 14, 1935, in Surry County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Columbus Holyfield and Emma Laster Holyfield, and his birth mother, Vertie Holyfield Andrews.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 69 years, Frances Edwards Holyfield; his sons, Danny Holyfield of Salisbury Maryland and Rick Holyfield of Gainesville, Georgia; grandchildren; Danny Holyfield Jr. (Serenity Dawn), Brandon Booth (Hilary), Travis Holyfield; Calyx Holyfield (Justin Jones), and Alex Holyfield; eight great grandchildren; and his siblings, Leon (Barbara) Holyfield, Mary (Tom) St. Clair, and Linda (Barry) Barry Martin. Mr. Holyfield will lie in state from 10:00-11:00 AM Wednesday August 5, 2026, at Gum Orchard Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM, in the church, with Pastor William Shew officiating. Burial will follow in the Zephyr Cemetery. Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson is respectfully serving the Holyfield family.
