Alice Fay Anderson

January 13, 1952 — January 15, 2026

Mount Airy

Our family’s greatest gift, Ms. Alice Fay Anderson, went to reunite with the Lord on January 15, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on January 13, 1952, she was the only girl in a family with three boys who she loved to help her mom discipline. Her child-like innocence and wonder were daily reminders of what is truly important in life: love, laughter, and family. She never went anywhere without seeing someone she knew. Her laugh was infectious and like music to the ears of those who knew her. She loved cowboys and never tired of watching westerns while sneaking some of her favorite snacks. She also loved music and played hymns and “Harper Valley PTA” on her guitar – both were pure perfection to those lucky enough to hear her play. The numerous coloring and crochet gifts she showered on those she loved are treasures we will all hold dear. She was the best member of neighborhood watch you could ever have asked for as nothing made it past her! She was a competitive gamer who took her caregiver to task whenever they played. Most importantly, she loved and taught great lessons to us all. But none more than her two great-nephews who she adored. She also loved their boy dog and their girl dog – unless they went into her bedroom then they were reported to their neighborhood watch.

Alice was a faithful member of Flat Rock Pentecostal Holiness Church and had previously attended Highland Park Baptist Church for years with her group home. She was preceded in death by her father, Clyde Anderson, her mother, Mae Jennings Forrest, her “Daddy Forrest,” Richard Forrest, two brothers, Bobby Anderson and Ernest “Karo” Anderson, and one nephew, Richard Anderson.

She is survived by her little brother, Burley Johnson, his loving wife, Glenda, who were blessed enough to share their home with Alice over the past few years, two nieces, Dawn Shelton and Ginny (Josh) Horton, one nephew, Robert (Donna) Anderson, two great-nephews, Shelton Rook and Joshua Price, and two great-nieces, Katheryn Anderson and Charlotte Anderson. Also left behind is Alice’s caregiver, Tina Combs (“my friend”), who grew to become a member of our family, and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.

The family would like to thank all of those that loved and cared for Alice over the years: her various group homes, Lifespan, Home Instead, and the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home.

The family will welcome friends at Moody Funeral Home on January 25, 2026, at 1:00 with a service in the Moody Chapel at 2:00 with Dr. David Sparks and Dr. Jonathan Casstevens presiding. A private burial will be held at Old Hollow Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorials be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, PO Box 325, Dobson, NC 27017.
