Alice Christine Angel Smith

Mrs. Alice Christine Angel Smith, 74, formerly of 135 Carolina Road, Mount Airy, passed away Friday morning, December 31, 2010, at Oak Forest Health and Rehabilitation Center in Winston-Salem. She was born December 26, 1936, in Surry County, daughter of the late Willie and Sara Alice McMillian Angel. Christine retired as an inspector from Cross Creek Apparel and was a member of the Baptist faith. She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Wavern Hawks and Delores Lynn and David Somers, all of Mount Airy, Angela and Christopher Ballenger of Mauldin, SC, and Christie and Rodney Hall of Germanton; a son and daughter-in-law, Bobby Ray Smith, Jr. and Ana Leonor Smith of Cana, VA; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Peggy Merrell of Fort Mill, SC; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Ray Smith; and two brothers, Billy Gray Angel, Sr. and Dwayne Angel. The funeral service will be held Sunday, January 2, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Randy Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Bethel Moravian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
