Alpha Weddle Martin

Ms. Alpha Weddle Martin, 96, of Vinton, VA, passed away Saturday morning, September 28, 2013, at Berkshire Health and Rehabilitation Center in Vinton, VA. Ms. Martin was born May 26, 1917, in Carroll County, VA, the daughter of the late John and Maude Puckett Weddle. She was a homemaker and a member of The Upper Room Church. She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Joyce M. Rippey of Roanoke, VA; two grandsons, John W. Rippey, III and his wife, Candace, of Roanoke, VA, and David W. Rippey and his wife, Crystal, of Vinton, VA; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Ms. Martin was preceded in death by a son, John W. Rippey, Jr.; and three brothers, Luther Carlyle Weddle, Layton Harry Weddle, and Arville Lewis Weddle. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Shannon Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the Puckett Family Cemetery in Hillsville, VA. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
