Andy Roosevelt Brannock

Mr. Andy Roosevelt Brannock, 83, of Dobson, passed away peacefully on Saturday afternoon, July 5, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Brannock was born January 24, 1942, in Surry County, one of four children born to the late Luther Cleve and Katie Matilda Burnette Brannock. Andy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose life was marked by service, faith, and hard work. He faithfully served the state of North Carolina for 37 years as a heavy equipment operator, helping to build and maintain the infrastructure that supports countless communities. His dedication and pride in his work were evident to all who knew him. A proud veteran, Andy served stateside in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he displayed the same sense of duty and commitment that would define his life. For over 50 years, Andy was an active and faithful member and deacon of Mount Vernon Baptist Church. He served his church family with humility and joy, and his quiet witness and strong faith were a blessing to all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Brenda Sue Lundy Brannock; his children, Michael Ray Brannock and Michelle Lynn Campbell; his granddaughter, Courtney Anne Campbell; his sister, Hallie Lowe; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Brannock was preceded in death by his sister, Opal Tate; and his brother, Willie Brannock. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Mount Vernon Baptist Church, with the Rev. T.J. Spurlin and the Rev. Bill Spurlin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with military honors conducted by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the church. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
