Mrs. Angela Gail “Angie” Boyd Bumgarner, 59, of Mount Airy, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday morning, September 13, 2026. Born November 4, 1966, Angie was lovingly chosen and embraced as a beloved daughter by Glen Edward and Patricia “Pat” Lyons Boyd. She was also blessed to be chosen as a wife by her husband, David, and, most importantly, to know the love and saving grace of her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. Angie grew up in Mount Airy and graduated from North Surry High School in 1985. Following her graduation, she attended Surry Community College, where she earned her associate’s degree. Angie worked for many years as a patient scheduling coordinator at Comprehensive Cancer Center of Wake Forest Baptist in Mount Airy and later for Dr. Amy E. DeVore. A devoted follower of Christ, Angie cherished her time spent reading and studying her Bible, along with commentaries and devotionals. Her faith was central to her life, and she loved being a part of Christ Community Church. She also enjoyed reading, Dachshund dogs, and cheering on all Tar Heel sports. In her leisure time, she loved watching HGTV and had a special appreciation for mid-century fashion. Known for her impeccable sense of style, Angie enjoyed shopping at Marshall’s and always had an eye for fashion. She is survived by her husband of 21 years, David Vernon Bumgarner; her parents, Glen Edward and Patricia “Pat” Lyons Boyd; her brother, David Wayne Boyd; an uncle, Monroe Johnson; an aunt, Marge Lyons; her cousins, Chris Johnson (Tammy), Catherine Keightley, and Deanna Lyons; her mother-in-law, Mildred Bumgarner; two sisters-in-law, Amy Janes (Butch) and Anita Bumgarner (Kim); a niece, Taylor Henderson (Reggie); three nephews, Nicholas Nuzzolilo, Zachary Nuzzolilo, and Trevor Janes (Zoey); and her beloved canine companion, Weiner Dog Max. who held a special place in her heart. Mrs. Bumgarner was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, William Corbett and Mary Cassell Lyons; her paternal grandparents, Jonah Zeb and Agnes Ables Boyd; her father-in-law, Rex Bumgarner; and an aunt, Sandra “Aunt Woman” Johnson. A service of worship and celebration of Angie’s life will be held Sunday, September 20, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Christ Community Church, with Dr. David J. Brady officiating. Burial will follow in the White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:30 to 3:00 PM at Christ Community Church.
