Mrs. Anne Stevens Draughn, 81, of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday morning, February 13, 2014, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Draughn was born June 13, 1932, in Surry County, the daughter of the late Charles Robert and Ethel Leach Stevens. Anne retired from Spencer's Inc. after many years of service and was a member of Haymore Memorial Baptist Church, where she sang faithfully in the choir for 65 years. She is survived by a son, Edgar Hampton "Eddie" Draughn, Jr. of Winston-Salem; a sister, Linda Stevens Goins of Mount Airy; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Gale Stevens of High Point and Wayland and Pauline Stevens of Charlotte; two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Ruth Reeves Draughn and Kathryne and Grover "Pete" Jenkins, all of Mount Airy; several nieces and nephews; a special friend, Phyllis Jennings of Mount Airy; and a special neighbor, Brian Cave of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Draughn was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Edgar Hampton Draughn, Sr.; a sister, Lucille Stevens Midkiff; and two brothers, Gilbert Stevens and Henry Stevens. The funeral service will be held Monday, February 17, 2014, at 1:00 PM at Haymore Memorial Baptist Church, with the Rev. Robert McCrary and the Rev. Kermit Gray officiating. A private interment will be held at Skyline Memory Gardens at a later date. The family will receive friends Monday from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM at Haymore Memorial Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Haymore Memorial Baptist Church Choir Fund, P.O. Box 27, Mount Airy, NC 27030. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Draughn family.
