Anne Gentry O’Neal

Mrs. Anne Gentry O'Neal passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2014, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. O'Neal was born October 24, 1929, in Winston-Salem, to Joseph A. and Eva Bumgardner Gentry. Anne was raised in the Mineral Springs community and attended Mineral Springs School. She and her late husband, John H. O'Neal, Sr., lived in several places, but for the last 40 years she had resided in the Level Cross community of Dobson. She was active in her church, Level Cross United Methodist, and enjoyed gardening and canning for her family, walking in the woods on the farm, quilting, and watching Westerns. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. O'Neal was preceded in death by a son, John H. O'Neal, Jr.; and all her siblings, Elsie Gray Landon, Helen Blackburn, Thomas Gentry, and Clyde Gentry. She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl O'Neal of Fayetteville; her son, Brian O'Neal (Jeni) of Dobson; grandsons, John Marshall O'Neal of Arlington, VA, Timothy S. O'Neal of Tuscon, AZ, and Andrew K. O'Neal, (Suzanne) of King; granddaughters, Dana Barnhill of Winston-Salem, Lauren Barnhill of Fayetteville, and Katie O'Neal and Lily O'Neal, both of Dobson; stepgrandchildren, Seth Beacham and Sydney Beacham, both of Dobson; a daughter-in-law, Beth O'Neal of King; and many sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. The family will receive friends at Level Cross United Methodist Church on Saturday morning, October 25, 2014, from 10:00 AM until the time of her service. The funeral service will be held Saturday, October 25, 2014, at 11:00 AM at Level Cross United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017; or Level Cross United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 137 Dry Spring Trail, Dobson, NC 27017. Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson is serving the O'Neal family.
