Mrs. Annie Lee Fowler Lowe, 91, of 168 Jefferson Lane, Mount Airy, passed away Sunday morning, May 20, 2012, at Golden Living Center. Mrs. Lowe was born March 3, 1921, in Surry County, one of eleven children born to the late Walter Thomas and Lucinda Nixon Fowler. Annie Lee was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Dusty and Janie Lowe of Mount Airy and Tommy and Brenda Lowe of Pilot Mountain; six grandchildren; a stepgrandchild; four great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Robert Hemmings of Dobson; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lowe was preceded in death by her husband, James Crissie Lowe; three sons, Wade Lowe, James Crissie Lowe, Jr., and Daniel Craig "Dute" Lowe; an infant grandson, Thomes Virgil Lowe; five sisters, Odessa Sykes, Mary Ruth Holbrook, Gladys Stone, Mildred Draughn, and Nell Bedsaul; and four brothers, Dewitt Fowler, Walter Thomas Fowler, Jr., Grady Fowler, and Paul Fowler. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at 11:00 AM at New Life Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gray Kirkman and the Rev. Joe Atkins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where her body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. The family may also be contacted at the home of Dusty and Janie Lowe, 842 Woltz Atkins Road, Mount Airy. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the "entire" staff of Golden Living Center for the loving and compassionate care they provided. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Activities Department at Golden Living Center, 542 Allred Mill Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
