Annie Virginia York McBride

Mrs. Annie Virginia York McBride, 84, of Mount Airy, passed away Saturday afternoon, January 7, 2017, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. McBride was born December 27, 1932, in Surry County, the daughter of the late Felix A. and Rosa Johnson York. Annie was a homemaker and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She was a dedicated Christian and a member of The Salvation Army. She is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Barbara and Raymond Senter, Judy Edwards, Patsy and Dean Berrier, and Freda and Jimmy Holder, all of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Martha McBride of Mount Airy; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and special friends, Sheryl Bondurant, Cora Gibson, Sheila Reynolds, and Sandra Carter. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McBride was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Sanford McBride; a daughter, Carol McBride; three sisters, Eunice Edwards, Ethel York, and Lucille Corn; and two brothers, Randall York and James York. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with Major Terry Edwards and Dr. Beverly Hatcher officiating. Burial will follow in the McBride Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. At other times, the family welcomes friends to the home of Barbara and Raymond Senter at 151 Sycamore Drive, Mount Airy. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love and compassion shown by the staff at Gentiva Home Health, Dr. Mark Dodd, and the staff at Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care.
