Mrs. Annie Chandler Seal, 88, of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, March 16, 2015, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, after a short illness. Mrs. Seal was born March 30, 1926, in Surry County, one of three children born to the late Joe and Julia Leftwich Chandler. She married Joseph Franklin "Joe Frank" Seal, and they worked side-by-side until his death in August 1976. She was the rock for her family and endured much heartache over the years, but always had a positive outlook and a strong will. She loved sports, especially Duke basketball. She was a wonderful cook and will always be remembered for her fried apple pies. Annie was a strong Christian woman and a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was "Mama" to a son, Mike Seal, and his wife, Brenda, of Dobson; and a daughter, Judy Mills, and her husband, Lee, of Mount Airy. She was "Ma" to her grandchildren, Tammy Hinkle, Jeff Seal, Clay Mills, Corey Mills, Brian Seal, and Brandon Seal; her great-grandchildren, Danielle Hunt, Jeremy Seal, Shay Shaw, Corbin Mills, Caroline Mills, Cassidy Mills, Carleigh Jo Mills, Cheyenne Seal, Savannah Seal, Joe Frank Seal, and Tyler Seal; and her great-great-grandchildren, Jacob Seal, Cadence Seal, and Tobin Shaw. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Seal was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Seal; a sister, Jenny Benge; and a brother, Joey Chandler. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at 3:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Alex L. Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 until 3:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church. Flowers are appreciated, or memorial contributions can be made to the Calvary Baptist Church Renovation Fund, 314 South Franklin Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love and compassion shown by the staff at Forsyth Medical Center and the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home.
