Annie Mae Sherlin

Mrs. Annie Mae Sherlin, age 82, of the Pine Ridge Community passed away early Sunday morning on October 20, 2024, at her residence with her loving family by her side. She was born in Asheville, May 18, 1942, to the late James Benjamin Queen and Lottie Mae Ballard Queen. Mrs. Sherlin spent many years growing up there and after meeting her husband, together they made their way to Mount Airy, the Pine Ridge area which they have called home for the past 40 plus years. Even though her only son had passed, she was still known to many as Mama Ann within the community. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, John Sherlin; sisters, Frances Reece, Margaret Bailey, Juanita Fisher; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, John Gilbert, Jr.; brother and sister-in-law, Robert Queen and Alma, brother-in-laws, Fred Reece, Roy Bailey. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Keith Nix, Rev. Chad Crotts and Rev. Rachel Jarvis officiating. A burial will follow in Galax, Virigina at Felts Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 , from 1 PM until the time of the service. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
