Mrs. Annie Faye Dixon Southern, age 83, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2026 at Northern Regional Hospital in Mt Airy. She was born on March 16, 1943, in Surry County to the late Garvie Roe Dixon Sr. and the late Nellie Jane Lowe Dixon. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will surely be missed by all who knew her. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters-and sons-in-law, Lisa Ann and Grant Adams, Skeeter Lynn and Mickey Edwards, Shannon Faith and Danny Taylor, Kimberly Dawn Willard; sons and daughter-in-law, Rockie Lee Southern, Samson Luke Southern and Cynthia; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; sister, Leila Mae Dixon Hinshaw; brothers and sisters-in-law, Keith and Jackie Dixie, Garvie Roe Dixon Jr. and Jane. In addition to her parents Mrs. Southern was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Samuel Southern; sister, Wanda Grey Dixon Slate; brothers, Kenneth Carroll Dixon, Roe Click Dixon. A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 20, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy with service conducted by Bro. Travis Sechrist, Bro. D.C Collins, and Bro. Harvey Arrington. Burial to follow in The People’s River of Life Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 9:30 AM until the time for the service at the funeral home. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family. The family would like to say special thanks to the staff of the Skilled Nursing Unit at Northern Regional Hospital as well as the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice for the care and support given to Mrs. Southern and her family.
