Mrs. Annie Faye Edwards Tate, 89, of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully on Sunday afternoon, August 16, 2026, at Surry Community Health Center by Harborview. Mrs. Tate was born August 1, 1937, in Surry County, one of four daughters born to the late Monroe and Alma Edwards Edwards. Faye was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker who dedicated her life to caring for her family. She found her greatest joy in her home and in the lives of her children, lovingly raising eleven children and creating a home filled with love, warmth, and cherished memories. Being a homemaker was more than a responsibility to Mrs. Tate; it was her calling. She devoted countless hours to caring for her family, preparing meals, keeping her home, tending to the needs of her children, and being there for every important moment in their lives. Her greatest accomplishment was the family she built and the love she poured into each of her children. Her children will forever cherish the love, sacrifices, lessons, and memories she gave them. She is survived by ten daughters, Sylvia Tate, Lucille Wimbley, Kathy Tate, Sandra Potts, Betty T. Collins, Nelta Nortley, Lisa Shinault, Misty Hardin, Mary Tate, and Maude Jeanette Gravley; a son, Charles Lee Tate; twenty-one grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mary Goins, Nellie Kilby, and Betty Goins. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tate was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas Tate, Jr. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. No formal visitation will be held. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Tate family.
