Arden Maynard Horton, age 77, of Claudville, VA passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 20, 2026 at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC. He was born in Patrick County on October 8, 1948, to James Orbra Horton and Bessie Pack Horton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Jeanette Lundy, Imener Peyton, and an infant sister; two brothers, Allen Horton and Larry Horton.

He was a Farmer and a Logger who loved his family.

Mr. Horton is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gail Knott Horton of Claudville; two sons, Shannon Maynard Horton (Tracy) of Stuart, and Clayton Orbra Horton (Camber) of Claudville; four grandchildren, Morgan Horton of Stuart, Emily Horton of Stuart, Tanner Horton of Claudville, and Dillon Horton of Claudville; one great-grandson, Carter Horton; two brothers, Dale Horton (Marie) and Noel Horton (Joan); two sisters, Connie Hooker, and Carolyn Hayden (Wayne).

A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. at Moody Funeral Chapel with Pastor Chad Harrison officiating. Burial will follow in the Barnard Family Cemetery.
