Ms. Ava Gretchen Taylor Parker, 65, of 149 Misty Meadow Trail, Mount Airy, passed away early Tuesday morning, October 13, 2015, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Ms. Parker was born August 1, 1950, in Surry County, one of two children born to the late Henry Anderson and Ethel Gretchen Booker Taylor. Gretchen was a homemaker and a member of Zion United Methodist Church. She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Benjamin Chadwick “Chad” and Deborah “Debbie” Martin Taylor of Mount Airy; a nephew and his wife, Christopher Scott and Leslie Taylor of Mount Airy; two great nieces, Britney Miller and her husband, Shane, of Jacksonville, FL, and Christina Faith Taylor of Hillsville, VA; a special cousin, Bobbie Stallings Lowe Triozzi; many dear friends; and a beloved canine companion, Chris. A service of worship and a celebration of Gretchen’s life will be held Saturday, October 17, 2015, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Dorothy Sullivan and the Rev. Dennis W. “Bud” Cameron officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at the funeral home. At other times, the family welcomes friends to the home of Benjamin Chadwick “Chad” and Deborah “Debbie” Martin Taylor, 199 Misty Meadow Trail, Mount Airy. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017; or Zion United Methodist Church, c/o Barbara Blackburn, 1739 Pipers Gap Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
