Avagene Stanley Terry

Mrs. Mary Avagene Stanley Terry, 89 of Meadows of Dan, VA, passed away at her home on Thursday morning, July 30, 2026, with her loved ones by her side. She was born March 11, 1937, in Carroll County, to the late Everett Lee Stanley and Irena Agnes Turman Stanley. She was of the Christian faith and loved to farm and garden. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 71½ years, Melvin Ray Terry; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Wendell and Cindy Terry, and Wayne Terry; one granddaughter and spouse, Shannon and Jamie Marshburn; several nieces and nephews; her extended family, Mark Wood and his two sons, Jonathan and Marcus; and many more family and friends. In addition to her parents, Avagene was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Lynn Terry; and her siblings, Helen Irene Stanley Burnette, Sherman Lee Stanley, Mabel Isabel Stanley Barber, and Dorothy Marie Stanley Culler. A private graveside service will be held in the Lynch Family Cemetery. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care.
