Mr. Banner Franklin Haynes, age 90, of King passed away on Thursday morning, November 2, 2023, at Novant-Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.  Mr. Haynes was born June 21, 1933, in Surry County to the late Franklin Pierce and Foye Sanger Barker Haynes.  Banner proudly served his county in the United Stated Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant.  He worked for RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company where he retired after many years of service as well as selling real estate which he continued while his health allowed.  Mr. Haynes enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing rook, and mowing his yard.  Banner was a member of the First Christian Church in King where he attended with his family.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend; who will be deeply missed.  Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Brenda Diana Carico Haynes; one daughter and son-in-law, Julie Haynes Lyons and husband Michael; one son and daughter-in-law, Paul Bradley Haynes and wife Erinn; four grandchildren, Kelly Lyons, Jenna Lyons, Leah Haynes, Anna Haynes; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Gladys Haynes Hopkins and husband Norman, Betty Haynes Cave; two brothers and sister-in-law, Wayne Haynes, Russell Haynes, and wife Alma; along with several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Haynes was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Haynes Ramey, Fannie Lou Haynes Lyons, one sister-in-law, Mary Haynes; and three brothers, Claude Haynes, William C “Bill” Haynes, and Franklin B. Haynes.  A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at 2:30 PM at First Christian Church in King with Pastor Glenn Van Meter and Pastor Guy Russell officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery with full Military Rights conducted by American Legion Honor Guard King Post 290 as well as full masonic rights conducted by Round Peak Masonic Lodge # 616 AF & AM.  The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at First Christian Church in King from 1:30 PM until 2:30 PM.  The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff and physicians at the VA in Kernersville and Novant Health for the compassionate care shown to Mr. Haynes. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Samaritanspurse.org/israel-projects/. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
