On Sunday, June 29, 2025, my beautiful mother, Barbara Beauregard, left to join my father in heaven. She was 94 years young and lived a long, healthy life until the onset of Alzheimer’s 7 years ago. I was blessed to have this amazing woman as my mom. She was a gentle and kind person. She was there for me whenever I needed her. She lived with my husband and I.
We were both fortunate to be with her when she passed away. It was a normal morning. I woke her up, got her cleaned up, and started walking her to breakfast. She even sang “Off we go into the wild blue yonder,” which she loved to do. Something happened, and she collapsed while saying she was dying. We got her to a chair, and she passed a few minutes later.
I am sad that I will not see her sweet face, but also happy she is at peace. I love you, Mom. Such a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. You will be missed, but in our hearts forever. She will be buried at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery with my father, who passed away in 1999. So glad they are back together.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Sharon Thompson and husband, Jim Wilson; two grandchildren, Megan and husband, Kevin, and Christopher and wife, Betty; a son-in-law, David Sherman; and a special caregiver, Karen Hopkins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Beauregard; and a daughter, Debbie Sherman.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Patrick County Chapter, P.O. Box 1301, Stuart, VA 24171.
