COURTESY OBITUARY

Ms. Barbara Jean Harbour Beck, age 82, passed away on Monday morning, November 17, 2025, at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC. She was born on May 11, 1943, in Patrick Springs, VA, to the late Calvin Coolidge Harbour and Vivian Stone Harbour.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Loretta Gayle Beck, and her grandson, Cameron Lee Beck, both of the home; and her brothers, Darrell (Mary) Harbour of Lexington, SC, and Dean T. (Terry) Harbour of Lynchburg, VA. She also leaves behind her two beloved cats, Tigger and Todd.

Barbara worked hard all her life. She was especially known for her beautiful cake decorating during her many years at Thrift Mart and Lowes Foods. She loved cooking for her family and countless friends, always making time to stop in, share a good meal, and enjoy plenty of laughter with those she loved. Barbara also had a passion for antiques—she enjoyed learning about them, shopping for them, and cherished the memory of attending the Antiques Roadshow in South Carolina.

Above all, Barbara loved to fish. She spent most of her life casting a line whenever she had the chance; being on the water was Heaven on earth for her. She always placed God first, and her family remained the center of her world. Growing up in Patrick County, she was surrounded by her aunts, uncles, and cousins, and she never missed a holiday, reunion, or any gathering where family came together. She adored her brothers and their families with all her heart.

Her grandson, Cameron, was her greatest joy. The time they spent together—going to reunions, visiting loved ones, and simply being together—was treasured by them both.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Pleasant View Baptist Church in Stuart, VA, with Rev. Terry Meeks officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Patrick Memorial Gardens.
