Barbara Jean Edwards

Ms. Barbara Jean Hunter Edwards, 73, of Mt. Airy passed away at her home Thursday, December 12, 2019.  She was born in Surry County December 9, 1946 to the late Walter A. and Myrtle Sawyers Hunter.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend.  Ms. Edwards retired from Proctor-Silex and attended Cedar Lane Baptist Church. Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Monica Spencer; sons and a daughter-in-law, Fred and Julie Edwards and Rick Edwards; grandchildren, Tim Edwards and wife Kayla, Hunter Edwards, Grant Edwards, Harley Edwards and Levi Edwards; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Jayce, Zoey, and Hayley; sisters, Doris Draughn, Patricia Bennett and Glenda Hall; brothers Alvin “A.J.” Hunter and Danny Hunter.  In addition to her parents, Ms. Edwards was preceded in death by several siblings.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, December 16, 2019 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Arlis Thomas officiating.  Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 1:00 PM until the service.  In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the American Red Cross, Surry County Chapter, 844 West Lake Dr., Mt.
