Mrs. Barbara Jean Taylor Galyean, 72, of 2021 Hemric Road, Boonville, passed away Friday night, August 15, 2014, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Galyean was born January 31, 1942, in Smyth County, VA, the daughter of the late Whitfield Anderson and Lucy Virginia Pennington Taylor. She was a loving and devoted homemaker. She is survived by two daughters, Karen Galyean Lane of Dobson and Peggy Galyean of Boonville; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Avery Wayne Galyean, Aubrey Geary and Deedra Galyean, and Randy J. Galyean, all of Boonville; seven grandchildren, Randle W. Galyean, Jonathan Galyean, Morgan Galyean, Colt Lane, Luke Lane, Brooklyn Galyean, and Jake Lane; five great-grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Brenda and Don Jelvik of Stayton, OR, and Coleen and Ron Smith of Silverton Falls, OR; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Jesse and Ruth Taylor and Brandon and Pat Taylor, all of Adams, OR, and Allen and Laura Taylor of Salem, OR; an uncle, Ralph Taylor of Aumsville, OR; and an aunt, Lillian Poplin and her husband, J.L., of Aumsville, OR. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Galyean was preceded in death by her husband, Ivy Jay Galyean; and a son-in-law, Randy Roger Lane. The funeral service will be held Monday, August 18, 2014, at 3:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Ray Hutson officiating. Burial will follow in the Galyean Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 until 3:00 PM at the funeral home, and other times at the home of Peggy Galyean, 1004 Starmount Drive, Boonville.
