Barbara Jean Marshall

Mrs. Barbara Jean Carrier Marshall, age 88, of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, December 2, 2025, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. Mrs. Marshall was born on August 18, 1937, in Chittenden County, Vermont, to the late Amie Leo Carrier and Mary Agnes Lombard Carrier. She worked many years as assistant vice president for Chittenden Trust Bank until her retirement. Mrs. Marshall was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She had many hobbies; baking, crafting, tole painting, tending to her garden, she also loved to sew and knit. Family was everything to her, she loved to spend time with them, especially the holidays, and she enjoyed cooking for the family and others. Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 67 years, Warren Marshall; daughters, Kathy Chalfant, Sally Allen and Donnie Jr; sons, Jeffery Marshall, David Marshall and Laurie Pouliot; grandchildren, Josh Marshall and Alisha, Jason Marshall and Tonya, Chris Marshall and Dawn, Jonathan Chalfant, Ashley Chalfant-Pirone and Cristine, Devin Allen and Jillian, Shelby Allen, Montana Marshall; great-grandchildren, Tanner, Julie, Bradford, Maddox, Luke, Layla, Ethan and Hudson; great great-grandchild, Everleigh. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Marshall was preceded in death by daughters-in-law, Michelle Marshall, Deborah Marshall; son-in-law, Gaylord Chalfant; nine siblings. A celebration of Mrs. Marshalls’ life will be held Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. The family will receive friends Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Moody Funeral Home from 1:00 PM until time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice PO Box 325, Dobson, North Carolina 27017. Moodys of Mount Airy is respectfully serving the Marshall family.
