Beatrice Brendle Whitaker

Mrs. Beatrice Brendle Whitaker, 87, of Dobson, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 29, 2016, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Home. She was born October 15, 1928, in Surry County, to the late Harvey and Lillie Mae Brendle. Mrs. Whitaker was a homemaker, who dedicated her life to the service of the Lord and her family. She was a dedicated member of Stony Knoll United Methodist Church as long as her health permitted. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and Jay Coe of Dobson, Thea and Robin Miller of Cleveland, and Emily and Mike Hawkins of Elkin; sisters, Marie and Adrian Wagner and Edith Snow; a brother and sister-in-law, Lonnie and JoAnne Brendle; a cherished daughter-in-law, Brenda Whitaker of Dobson; her beloved grandchildren and their spouses, Amanda and Edward Collins, Hank and Tracie Whitaker, Noah Miller, Amy and Bethany Hawkins, and Christina Hamlin; and great-grandchildren, Tyler and Clay Whitaker, Connor and Eden Collins. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Whitaker was preceded in death by her husband, Moir Whitaker; a son, Henry Whitaker; a sister; and two brothers. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at 2:00 PM at Stony Knoll United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jimmy Lawton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Stony Knoll United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund or the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road Dobson, NC 27017.
