Belinda Hicks Sumner

Mrs. Belinda Hicks Sumner, 54, of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, November 4, 2010, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Sumner was born September 22, 1956, in Surry County, to the late Thomas "Josh" Hicks, Jr. and Mary Cemanthia Forrest Hicks. She was a very special and loving wife, mother, "nana" and friend to so many. She will be dearly missed by all her family and friends. She was a member of New Venture Baptist Church, where she was also the pianist. Surviving are her husband, Larry Sumner of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Kris Laws of Mount Airy; a granddaughter, Covia Cemanthia Laws; a step-granddaughter, Amber Tate; a brother and sister-in-law, Davey and Sammie Hicks of Mount Airy; and special friends, Faye York, Delores Hill, and Judy Willard. The funeral service will be held Sunday, November 7, 2010, at 2:00 PM at New Venture Baptist Church, with the Rev. Larry Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Sumner will lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the service at the church. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home.
