Belva Josephine Cobler

Mrs. Belva Josephine Phillips Cobler, 89, of Mt. Airy passed away Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Northern Regional Hospital in Mt. Airy.  She was born in Surry County on January 23, 1934, to the late Joseph Eldridge and Pearlie Edwards Phillips.  Mrs. Phillips retired from Armtex after 36 years of employment, and a member of New Beginnings Baptist Church in Ararat, NC.  She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be dearly missed.  She is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Rita Holyfield, Beverly Warden and Wayne, Katherine Shelton; grandchildren, Daniel Hoover, Emaily Holyfield, Abbegayle Ring, Bryson Holyfield, Frankie Ayers, Chris Dawson, Eric Shelton, Luke Holyfield, and Dustin Collins; great grandchildren, Oliver Hoover, Journey Collins, Sydney Dawson, Jessalynn Nickels, Wyatt Dawson, Aleeah Ayers, Anthony Ayers, Lynnox Holyfield, and Ledger Holyfield; sisters, Margaret Davis, and Joann Willard; a brother, Bobby Phillips; many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cobler was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Franklin Cobler; a son-in-law, Donald Holyfield; five sisters and four brothers.  A funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at 2:00 PM at New Beginnings Baptist Church with the Rev. Harold Dean Bowman, Jr. officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:30 until 2:00 PM at the church.  Moody Funeral Services in Mt.
