Benny Lee East

Mr. Benny Lee East, 64, of Mt. Airy passed away Friday, February 10, 2023, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson after a vigilant battle with cancer.  He was born in Surry County on December 19, 1958, to Ruby Bunker East and the late Glenn East.  Mr. East was owner-operator of Mayberry Campground, full-time entrepreneur, and fixer of all things.  He is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Kali and Andrew Boles, Lakin East; grandchildren, Kason Boles, and Weston Boles; his mother, Ruby Bunker East; a brother, James East; his best buddy, Flash; many other special friends and family.  A memorial service will be held Thursday, February 16, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Phillip Adams and the Rev. Harry Sherrill officiating.  The family will receive friends Thursday from 12:30 until 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Duke Children’s Hospital Pediatric Oncology Unit or to a Pediatric Oncology Unit of the donor’s choice.  Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
