Benton Spencer Gillespie

Mr. Benton Spencer Gillespie, age 77, of Dobson, NC passed away on Tuesday November 22, 2022, at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC.  Mr. Gillespie was a loving husband, father, grandfather & friend to all. He was born in Surry County on December 26, 1944, to the late Wesley Gillespie and the late Myrtle Hudson Gillespie.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lionel Gillespie, Bill Gillespie; sister-in-law, Edna Sisk; brother-in-law, Howard Childress; nephew, Kevin Gillespie.  He was a farmer, carpenter, and a faithful member of Crossroads Baptist Church.  Surviving are his loving wife of 50 years, Judy Beck Gillespie; daughter and her fiancé, Julie Gillespie and Aaron Combs; son and his girlfriend , John Gillespie and Beverly Norman; grandchildren, Jordan and Kyle Hall, Hailey Danley, Kaysie Danley and her fiancé Shane Hawks, Sydney Gillespie; great-grandchildren, Maycee, Madalyn, Maverick Hall, Isaiah Danley, Addison Outlaw, baby boy Hawks arriving in May 2023; sisters and brothers-in-law, Faye and Hugh Secrest, Doris Childress, Betty and Robert Nichols; brothers and sisters-in-law, Cleatus (Pete) and Mildred Gillespie, Melvin and Joyce Gillespie,  Juanita Gillespie; several nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, November 27, 2022, at Crossroads Baptist Church, with Rev. Jeff Wall and Rev. Alton Bledsoe officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Honor Guard Mt. Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436.  The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home on Saturday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.  Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.   Moody-Davis Funeral Home is serving the Gillespie family.
