Ms. Betty Ann Haynes Cave, 80, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday morning, August 19, 2026, at Central Continuing Care. Ms. Cave was born October 12, 1945, in Surry County, the daughter of the late Franklin Pierce and Foye Barker Haynes. Betty was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be remembered for her kind heart, warm smile, and caring spirit. For many years, she was a self-employed hairdresser, a profession she truly enjoyed. She took great pride in her work and in the relationships she developed with her clients over the years. To her, being a hairdresser was about much more than styling hair, it was an opportunity to make people feel good about themselves and to share in the joys and challenges of their lives. Betty was also a devoted follower of Christ and a faithful member of Antioch Baptist Church. Her faith guided her life and shaped the kindness and grace with which she lived. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Gina and Barry Fowler; a son and daughter-in-law, Jacob Wesley and Jill Cave; her grandchildren, Cole and Olivia Fowler, Olivia and Payton Stull, Tori and Figu Barzuna, and Nathan and Susan Welch; her great-grandchildren, Henry Fowler, Walker Stull, Lucy Stull, Camila Barzuna, and Francis Welch; a sister and brother-in-law, Gladys and Norman Hopkins; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend and companion, Dr. Doug Henderson. In addition to her parents, Ms. Cave was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Ramey and Fannie Lou Lyons; and six brothers, Bill Haynes, Barker Haynes, the Rev. Claude Haynes, Banner Haynes, Wayne Haynes, and Russell Haynes. The funeral service will be held Friday, August 21, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Antioch Baptist Church, with the Rev. Grant Atkins and the Rev. Dale Wallace officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the church. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love, care, and compassion shown by the staff at Central Continuing Care and Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 137 Antioch Avenue, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
