Mrs. Betty Jo Stone Coleson, age 73, of Lowgap, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2018, at Forsyth Medical Center.  Mrs. Coleson was born in Carroll County on April 19, 1945, to the late Fred Henderson and Thelma Fulk Stone.  She was a dedicated and charter member of Gospel View Baptist Church where she also served as Church Clerk.  Betty met the love of her life, Carroll “Buster” Coleson, on March 5, 1961; they were married on December 22, 1962, and have shared 55 wonderful years together.  Together they not only lovingly raised their children, but Betty was known as “Mother to Many.” She cared for so many other children through the years that still to this day keep in touch.  She was known for being the “best Mema.”  Betty was a great cook and she loved cooking for everyone and making sure that everyone else was fed before she would eat.  Mrs. Coleson was retired from Surry Surgical Associates.  She will be dearly missed by her loving family but also by so many friends she made.  Among the many who will always cherish her memory is her devoted husband, Carroll “Buster” Coleson; daughters and sons-in-law, Annette and Shannon Spell, Edith and Michael Smith; sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert Coleson, Rev.
