Mrs. Betty Ann Brown Cox, 88, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday morning, September 23, 2022, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  Mrs. Cox was born November 23, 1933, in New Hanover County, one of seven children born to the late Pender Lee and Kathaleen Savage Brown.  Betty retired as a sales associate from JCPenney Company, Inc. and was a faithful member of Victory Baptist Church.  She is survived by a daughter, Cindy Cox Perry (Clarence Miller) of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, David Fulton Cox, Jr. and Robin Cox of Hamptonville; four grandchildren and their spouses, Keith Venable and Kevin and Carrie Venable, all of Mount Airy, Courtney and William Bauguess of Ronda, and Brittany and Michael Connelly of Boonville; eight great-grandchildren, Sidney Kate Venable, Embree Claire Venable, Kylie Venable, and Rylan Venable, all of Mount Airy, Tucker Connelly and Ella Connelly, both of Boonville, and Camdyn Bauguess and Nolan Bauguess, both of Ronda; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Yvonne Brown Dill of Wilmington, Nell Brown Gayhart of Jacksonville, and Faye and Charles Burton of Watha; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. David Fulton Cox, Sr.; a daughter, Kathy Lauree Cox; an infant brother, Alton Ray Brown; and two sisters, Joyce Brown Bragg and Judy Brown White.  The funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Victory Baptist Church, with Dr. Joey Jessup and the Rev. Tim Miller officiating.  Burial will follow in the Dover Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:30 until 2:00 PM at Victory Baptist Church.  At other times, the family welcomes friends to the home of Cindy Cox Perry at 306 Pineview Drive, Mount Airy.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the David Fulton Cox Memorial Scholarship Fund for Basic Law Enforcement Training Students, Surry Community College Foundation, 630 South Main Street, Dobson, NC  27017; Lifespan Ventures, 623 Rockford Road, Dobson, NC  27017; or Victory Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1771, Mount Airy, NC  27030.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
