Mrs. Betty Rae Throckmorton Hill, age 91, of Mt. Airy, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, January 2, 2026 at Northern Regional Hospital in Mt. Airy. She was born on August 18, 1934 in Surry County to the late George and Mossie Combs Throckmorton. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and friend to all. who will surely be missed by all who knew her. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, , Lavonda Goad, Alesia (Gary) Nester ; son, Edward Todd Hill and fiancé Marie Hawks; grandchildren, Carissa Goad Banks and fiancé Mike Angels, , Cody Lee Nester and fiancé Christina Marie, Shanda Lynette Blevins; great-grandchildren, Alexis Nicole Valentine, Alexandar Carson Gunter, Summer Lynette Shelp and husband Matt, Jonathan Michael Collins and wife Alisa, Bailey Brooke Blevins; brother, Bobby Throckmorton and special friend Janice Brintle. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Throckmorton was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Edward Carson Hill; brother, Lewis Thockmorton; sister, Alice Alma Gilley Harrison. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Skyline Memory Gardens with service conducted by Rev. Barry Wood. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:30 PM until the time to for the service at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. The family would like to say special thanks to the CNA’s at Surry Health and Rehab for the care given to the family and their mother during this time.
