Betty Ruth Key

Mrs. Betty Ruth Sutphin Key, 98, of Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at Surry Community Health and Rehabilitation Center.  Mrs. Key was born July 23, 1920, in Surry County, to the late George Lee and Sarah Elsie Hicks Suthpin.  She was a loving homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church.  She is survived by a daughter, Fonda Key Wooster of Summerville, SC; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Larry G. Key of Mount Airy and Michael D. and Nancy Key of High Point; her grandchildren, Ann and Bob Brolliar of Sykesville, MD, M. Darren and Mary Key of Raleigh, Phillip Key of Greensboro, Brian Key of Mount Airy, and Stephen and Chi Key of High Point; seven great-grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Key was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Grey Key; a grandchild, Tammy Brett; a son-in-law, Keith Wooster; and fourteen brothers and sisters.  The funeral service will be held Sunday, October 28, 2018, at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jay Meadows officiating.  Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC  27030.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Key family.
