Betty Viola Doss Potts

Mrs. Betty Viola Doss Potts, 80, of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday morning, August 16, 2009, at Twin County Regional Hospital in Galax, VA. She was born September 28, 1928, in Rockingham County, to the late Jim and Mandy Johnson Doss. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth Ray and Darlene Potts, Gary Potts and his fiancee, Barbara Beatty, and Pansy Potts all of Mount Airy; six grandchildren, Tommie Jean Potts, Matthew Potts, Ricky Potts and his wife, Heather, Jody Potts and his wife, Elizabeth Dawn, Justin Potts, and Jason Potts, all of Mount Airy; and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Potts was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Richard Potts; two sons, Wayne Richard Potts and Glenn Junior Potts; two sisters, Hattie McBride and Gracie Doss; and a brother, Broner Doss. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, August 18, 2009, at 11:00 AM at Ararat Friends Meeting Cemetery, with the Rev. Doug Cockerham officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
