Betty Faye Wright Taylor Holder

Mrs. Betty Faye Wright Taylor Holder, 82 of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully on Sunday November 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at Surry Community Health and Rehabilitation in Mount Airy. She was born December 15, 1942, in Grayson County, Virginia, number 13 of 20 children born to the late Bruce Wilbur Wright and Gladys Virginia Hawks Wright. She was a 1963 graduate of Galax High School. She retired from the textile industry and later volunteered at Northern Regional Hospital for many years. Left to cherish Nanny’s memory are two daughters, Lisa Edwards and Tim; and Sharon Thomas and Charles; grandchildren, Jamie Taylor, Amber and Justin Leagan, and Courtney Thomas; a great grandson, Michael Levi; two sisters, Nancy Johnson and Maxine Robertson; and several other family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Franklin “Toehead” Holder; the father of her daughters, Gerald Dean Taylor; and siblings, Alese Wright Bryant, Lester Mitchell Wright, Clifford William Wright, Norma Lee Wright, Agnes Christine Wright, Daniel Dale Wright, Talmadge Ray “Shorty” Wright, Jackie Dean “Jack” Wright, Peggy Ann Wright Truitt, Doris Wright Jones, Don T. Wright, Richard Bruce “Bill” Wright, Jimmy Roger Wright, Lona Sue Wright Lineberry, Ronnie Gayle Wright, Hascal Lee Wright, and an infant sister. Funeral services will be held Wednesday November 12, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Ivy Green Baptist Church with Pastor Bill Spurlin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 – 2:00pm on Wednesday. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Northern Regional Hospital, Surry Community Health and Rehab, Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, and 12 Oaks Memory Care for all of the love, care , and support given to Nanny and the family.
