Mr. Billy Ray Reece, age 74, of Mount Airy, passed away early Wednesday morning, November 27, 2024, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson with his son by his side. Ray was born on August 13, 1950, in Surry County, to the late O’Dell Edwards Easter and Perry Lee Reece. Ray grew up in Mount Airy and attended Mount Airy High School. He will be remembered by all for his love of dirt track cars and hanging out at the Dairy Center with Freddie Hiatt or helping Ocie open at Ocie’s restaurant in the early morning. He valued his friends and coworkers at T and K Enterprises who were more than just friends, they were family to him. He never met a stranger and was always willing to help where he was needed. Ray is survived by his son, David Reece; granddaughter, Gracie Reece; sisters and brother-in-law, Joann and L.W. Bennett, Donna Kay Easter; niece Tonya Bennett; several nephews and a great-niece; special friend, Whitney Marvin. In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Lee Reece; stepdad, Howard Donnell Easter; former wife, Brenda Reece. Per Ray’s request, there will be no formal visitation or funeral services held at this time. The family would like to thank the staff at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home for the care and support that was given to the family during this time, especially Amanda Clement and Kena Johnson.
