Bobby Ray Hamm

Bobby Ray Hamm, 69, of Mount Airy, North Carolina took his long awaited journey home to be with the Lord on Monday evening at home. Bobby loved God, his wife, the family that they had grown together, his church and church family. He had a unique ability to strike conversation with anyone, which usually quickly turned to an open invitation to church or dinner. He was an avid hunter and fisherman his whole life and a wonderful storyteller. Bobby was a member of Blue Hollow Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher for many years: Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Gilda “Jill” Hamm, three sons and daughters-in-laws, Robby Hamm (Lee Ann), Steven Hamm (Ginger), Christopher Hamm (Beth), like a daughter and son-in-law Michelle Dawson (Timmy), three grandchildren, Skylar Hamm, Shaylen Hamm, Nolan Hamm, bonus granddaughter Cassie Arrington, three great grandchildren, Brinleigh (Button), Asher, Ivy, special sister-in-law, Rebecca Shumaker, brother-in-law, Norris Dollyhite, uncle, Leonard Hamm and Margaret, his beloved dog, AJ and a very special friend, Rickey Martin. Along with these are many, many others that he had “adopted” as family. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him, but we will all look forward to a great homecoming soon. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Ilene Hamm, a brother Buford (Bush) Hamm and a special nephew (like a son) Mike Arrington. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at 2:30 PM at Blue Hollow Baptist Church with Reverend Rickey Martin officiating. Interment will follow in the Dollyhite Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at Blue Hollow Baptist Church from 12:30 PM until the time of the service.
