Bobby Lee Smith

Mr. Bobby Lee Smith, age 95, of Siloam NC and Harrisburg NC, passed away on December 30, 2023, at the home of his son in Harrisburg. He was born December 19, 1928, in Surry County, to the late Roy D. and Daisy Bowman Smith. He was a member of Siloam Baptist Church, was a retired tobacco farmer, textile fixer, metal fabricator, and was the first attendant at the Siloam Recycling Center. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in Korea Company L, 17^th infantry Regiment, 7^th Division as a corporal, and his tour of duty was in the Chorwan area north of the 38^th Parallel (Pork Chop and Old Baldy). He was a much beloved papa who will be greatly missed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Lori Nell Smith; four brothers, Fred Smith, Ray Smith, Elbert Smith, Clifton Smith; and a sister, Jackie Wall.

            Left to cherish his memories, is his wife of 66 years, Callie Hamlin Smith; a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Tina Smith; a sister, Bonnie Bennett; grandchildren, Joseph Smith, Morgan Fields, and Jordan Moore; great grandchildren, Eli and Evan Fields, and Liam and Patrick Moore; and several nieces and nephews.

            A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, January 7, 2024, in the Siloam Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Jarred Seal, and military honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Honor Guard Mt. Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436. There will be no services held at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Lori Nell Smith Scholarship Fund at Surry Community College. Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson is serving the Smith family.
