Bobby Josiah Needham

Mr. Bobby Josiah Needham, 91, of Pilot Mountain, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, October 23, 2026. He was born March 7, 1935, in Surry County, the son of the late Bart and Myrtle Needham. Mr. Needham was a longtime farmer and home builder who built homes for many families throughout the Pilot Mountain area. He was member of New Hope United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Woodie; his son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Britta Needham; four granddaughters, Brittany Tomlin (Toby), Meagan May (Mike), Jenna Vass (Grayson), and Hunter Woodie (Aayush Jain); and eight great-grandchildren, Bransen Tomlin, Austen Tomlin, Camden Tomlin, Sawyer May, Reagan May, Oakley Vass, Blakeley Vass, and Finnley Vass. In addition to his parents, Mr. Needham was preceded in death by his wife, Connie Gwaltney Needham; three sisters, Maude Danley, Gladys Crews, and Mary Ann Johnson; and a brother, Billy Needham.

The funeral service will be held Monday, October 26, 2026, at 2:00 PM at New Hope United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Charlie Fried and Rev. Steve Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. No formal visitation will be held.
