Bobby Ray Pruitt

Mr. Bobby Ray Pruitt, 78, of Claudville, VA, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2011, at his home. Mr. Pruitt was born May 17, 1932, in Patrick County, VA, to Abe and Laura King Pruitt. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Mr. Pruitt was a hardworking farmer, who provided not only for his family but also the community. He was always giving to anyone in need. Mr. Pruitt retired from Pike Electric. Surviving are his devoted wife, Demmie Lee Woodruff Pruitt of the home; a daughter, Dianne Bledsoe of Claudville, VA; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Bryant and Kristen Pruitt of Stuart, VA, and Ray Pruitt of Dublin, VA; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Jewel and Richard Boyles of Claudville, VA, Katie and Bill McDaniel of Winston-Salem, and Betty Smith of Greensboro. In addition to his parents, Mr. Pruitt was preceded in death by a grandson, Jamie Hall; and a sister, Catherine Marshall. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at Hatcher's Chapel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Harry Sherrill officiating. Mr. Pruitt will lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at Moody Funeral Home of Mount Airy. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Angie Vipperman, "who we couldn't have made it without."
