Mr. Bobby Ray Wilson, 90, of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, February 21, 2026, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Wilson was born November 17, 1935, in Surry County, the oldest of three sons born to the late Ruby Wilson Gravely. A dedicated and hardworking man, Bobby retired as plant manager of Perry Manufacturing after 45 years of faithful service. Even in retirement, Bobby’s strong work ethic continued, as he spent another 22 years working with T and K Enterprises. He was a faithful member of Mount Airy Wesleyan Church. Family was the heart of his world, and he deeply cherished the time spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Gladys Hicks Wilson; a daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Frank Sheppard; a son and daughter-in-law, Leon and Dee Wilson; three grandsons, Bryce Wilson and his wife, Chelsea, Shay Wilson and his wife, Alyssa, and Brandon Sheppard and his girlfriend, Amelia York; three great-grandsons, Casen Wilson, Cohen Wilson, and Briggen Wilson; four stepgrandchildren, Kelly Carney and her husband, Brendan, Jason Horton and his wife, Susan, Ashley Johnson, and Brandi Sumner and her husband, Tommy; a brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Jeanette Gravely; a special sister-in-law, Linda Gravely; and two special nieces, Kathy Atkins and Carolyn Bauguess. In addition to his mother, Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Brianna Wilson; and a brother, Franklin D. Gravely. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Jason Madison and the Rev. Richard Loman officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12:30 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
