Bonnie Sue Gunnell Jones Johnson

Mrs. Bonnie Sue Gunnell Jones Johnson, 53, of 252 Beasley Road, Mount Airy, passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 18, 2008. She was born August 22, 1954, in Carroll County, VA, to Iva Lee Surratt Gunnell and the late Benton Gunnell. She was employed as a nursing assistant with Village Care of King and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are her husband, Lester Johnson of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Sabrina Jones Bowman and Jeff of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard Wayne Jones, Jr. and Susan of Mount Airy; two stepsons, Matthew Johnson and Michael Johnson, both of Mount Airy; four grandchildren, John Bowman, Mason Bowman, Richard Wayne Jones, III, and Jordan Marsh, all of Mount Airy; her mother, Iva Lee Surratt Gunnell of Cana, VA; and a brother, Billy Gunnell of Cana, VA. In addition to her father, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Gunnell. A graveside service will be held Thursday, May 22, 2008, at 11:00 AM at Willis Gap Baptist Church Cemetery. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Lonnie Gunter. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
