Brenda Joyce Chappell

Mrs. Brenda Joyce Chappell, 72, of 2853 Wards Gap Road, Ararat, VA, passed away early Thursday morning, January 22, 2015, at her home. Mrs. Chappell was born July 30, 1942, in Carroll County, VA, the daughter of the late William Cecil and Rachel Joyce Hall Chappell. Brenda was a homemaker and a member of Ararat Church of the Living God. She is survived by her husband, Arthur Ray Chappell of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Josephine and Dorsey Rucker and Lillie and John Middleton, all of Cana, VA, and Bunny Chappell and Jeff King of Mount Airy; two sons and daughters-in-law, Cecil Ray “Toby" and Cindy Chappell and Derrick Chappell and Tina Beamer, all of Cana, VA; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Linda Thomas and Darlene and Billy Wilson, all of Cana, VA; and three brothers and sisters-in-law, William Cecil “Sonny" and Peggy Chappell of Ararat, VA, Randy and Renee Chappell of Mount Airy, and Jerry and Karen Chappell of Cana, VA. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Chappell was preceded in death by a daughter, Penny Ray Chappell; a brother, Darrell Chappell; and a brother-in-law, Kenneth Thomas. The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 24, 2015, at 2:00 PM at Wards Gap Full Gospel Church, with the Rev. Michael Osborne officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Bethel Moravian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at Wards Gap Full Gospel Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Moody Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1288, Mount Airy, NC 27030, to assist the family with the funeral expenses.
