Brenda Gail Dollyhigh Hooker

Mrs. Brenda Gail Dollyhigh Hooker, age 83, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2026 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born on December 25, 1942 in Surry County to the late Odis and Margaret Thomas Dollyhigh. She was a loving caregiver for her mother for many years. She also loved gardening, she had a green thumb, and her favorite color was blue. She was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will surely be missed by all who knew her. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Shannon Sams (Cannon); sons and daughter-in-law, Greg Hooker (Dawn), Steve Hooker (Shannon Cagle); grandchildren, Carson Francis, Nicholas Hooker (Beth), Aaron Hooker, Will Hooker; great-grandchild, Kabree Hooker; brothers and sister-in-law, Randy Dollyhigh (fiancé Sherry Moore), Tim Dollyhigh (Irene); several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Mrs. Hooker was preceded in death by her husband, James “Tommy” Hooker; brother, Ronald Dollyhigh. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at 11:00 am at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy with service conducted by Rev. Chris McMillian and Rev. Jason Johnson. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6-8pm at the funeral home. The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Dunmore Plantation and the staff at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home for all their love and support during Brenda’s illness. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her honor to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zepher Rd., Dobson, NC 27017.
