Mr. Buddie Wayne Creed, 85, of Lowgap, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, January 24, 2026, following a long battle with Huntington’s disease. Mr. Creed was born August 16, 1940, in Surry County, one of eleven children born to the late George Winston and Pearlie Rebecca Lowe Creed. Buddie was a hardworking Christian man, who loved being a tobacco farmer and cherished the time spent working alongside his son, Tommy, who preceded him in death by ten days. They greatly enjoyed working the farm together. He was an avid Carolina fan and loved watching NASCAR racing. He served faithfully as a deacon and trustee at Dayspring Baptist Chapel, where he was an active member until his health declined. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Catherine Haynes Creed of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Kirk Anderson of College Grove, TN; two granddaughters, Anna Anderson and Ashlyn Anderson, both of College Grove, TN; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his son and parents, Mr. Creed was preceded in death by five sisters, Geneva Southern, Roxie Warner, Maurice Brandenburg, Annette Eller, and Virginia McKnight; and five brothers, Robert Creed, Alfred Creed, Tommy Creed, Raymond Creed, and Bennie Creed. The funeral service will be held Friday, January 30, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with Bro. Rick Crouse and Dr. Jonathan Casstevens officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM at the funeral home. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for the love, care, and support provided by the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, especially Melissa, Courtney, Amber, Lisa, and Freedom. A special thank you is also extended to Mike for taking such good care of Buddie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Huntington’s Disease Society of America, 505 Eighth Avenue, Suite 1402, New York, NY 10018.
