Mr. Carl Steven Talley, age 76 of Mount Airy, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at his home. Mr. Talley was born on September 8, 1949, in Surry County to the late Carl and Ethel Combs Talley. Steve was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend. He loved his church, doing trivia with his friends, listening to beach music, and camping. Steve loved people and never met a stranger. Mr. Talley was known around Mount Airy from the years of work at Talley’s Frame shop and then later operating one of the Mayberry Squad Car Touring vehicles, where he met lots of people and was able to share his knowledge of the city as well as making their experience wonderful. Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Dianne Holder Talley; a daughter and son-in-law, Engle Talley Cook and husband, James; six nieces; one nephew; and his cherished dog Lexi. In addition to his parents, Mr. Talley was preceded in death by two brothers, Hugh Talley and Jimmy Talley; and beloved dog Tess. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 2:00 PM Oakdale Cemetery in Mount Airy with Reverend Andrew Heil officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy from 12:00 PM until 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Grace Moravian Church, 1401 North Main Street, Mount Airy, North Carolina 27030.
