**UPDATED FUNERAL LOCATION**

Mr. Carl Steven “Steve” Talley, 76, of Mount Airy, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at his home. Mr. Talley was born on September 8, 1949, in Surry County, to the late Carl and Ethel Combs Talley. Steve was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend. He had a deep love for his church and enjoyed spending time doing trivia with his friends, listening to beach music, and camping. Steve loved people and truly never met a stranger. He was well known throughout Mount Airy for his years of work at Talley’s Frame Shop and later for operating one of the Mayberry Squad Car vehicles. Through these roles, Steve met lots of people and was able to share his knowledge of the city while making each visitor’s experience special and memorable. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dianne Holder Talley; a daughter, Engle Talley Cook and her husband, James; six nieces; one nephew; and his cherished dog, Lexi. In addition to his parents, Mr. Talley was preceded in death by two brothers, Hugh Talley and Jimmy Talley; and his beloved dog, Tess. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Reverend Andrew Heil officiating. Interment will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy from 12:00 until 2:00 PM.
