Carol Jean (Chilton) Johnson

Mrs. Carol Jean Chilton Johnson, age 77, of Mount Airy passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Johnson was born on April 18, 1948, in Surry County to the late Dalmer Lewis and Kathleen Kirkman Chilton. Carol was a loving mother, Gigi, great-Gigi, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Todd Johnson (Cassina Maynor), Chris Johnson (Kelly); four grandchildren, Michael Johnson (Mimi), Jessica Johnson (Kenny), Charlie Johnson, Sidney Hayes (Stephenie); the father of her children, Eugene Johnson, great-grandchildren, Madeline Johnson, Brayden Hayes, Baylee Hayes; sister, Kathy Chilton; brother, Dean Chilton; special niece Amanda Bare; along with several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents, Dalmer Lewis and Kathleen Kirkman Chilton. A private memorial graveside service will be held at a later date in Smith Family Cemetery in Mount Airy. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Liberty Home Care and Hospice, 336 North South Street, Mount Airy, North Carolina. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
