Carolyn Key Goad

Mrs. Carolyn Gay Key Goad, age 89, of Mount Airy, passed away Monday evening April 6, 2026, at Central Continuing Care with her loving family by her side. Mrs. Goad was born in Surry County, December 19, 1936, to the late Fred Key, Sr. and Jettie Coe Key. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sibling, who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Mrs. Goad was woman of great faith, always putting others first, and always lived life to the fullest. She was a faithful member of Westside Baptist Church for many years. Left to cherish her memories are her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and David Johnson; sons and daughter-in-law, Jamie and Mitzi Goad, Mac Cooke, Douglas Cooke; grandchildren, Brandon Johnson and Tedisue, Dustin Johnson and Savannah, AJ Culler and Josh Holderfield, Miriam Culler, Shannon Whitt and Ryan, Brittany McBride and John; several great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Freddie Key and Brenda. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Goad was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Vance Goad, Sr.; brothers, Donald Key, Gray Key. A celebration of Mrs. Goads life will be held Monday, April 13, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy with the Rev. Steve Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, April 13, 2026, from 12:00 PM until time of the service. Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Moodys of Mount Airy is respectfully serving the Goad family.
